Presents for our founding Revision3/Diggnation subscribers!

April 28th, 2008 at 04:01 by Michele Husak in Announcements

Stephanie Mack in her Limited Edition Diggnation T-shirtThis has been a long time coming, but our gifts to our founding Diggnation members are here. A few months ago, we updated our release policy to allow all Revision3 viewers to enjoy the same video releases for free at the same time, retiring our advanced access to Diggnation for members. We wanted to say “thank you” to those who had paid annual memberships in our early days – your support hasn’t gone unnoticed!

To give you a preview of your gifts, the Revision3 staff has taken the time (after work, of course) to model the limited edition 2008 Diggnation shirts. Those of you who registered with us as paid members in the past will receive these in the mail except yours will be extra cool because they’ll be signed by Kevin Rose! We think the shirts came out awesome, and hope you do, too.

When you get your shirts, maybe you can take a picture of yourself and post ‘em in the forums. Enjoy the photos!

REVISION3 HAS A NEW SHOW ON TAP: SOCIAL BREW

April 28th, 2008 at 02:09 by Michele Husak in Press Releases

—A new series devoted to social network know-how, news, reviews and more—

San Francisco, CA (April 28, 2008) – With a new social networking site launching every day, how do you cut through the clutter? Revision3, the leader in exclusive Internet television, serves up a tall glass of…um… water with “Social Brew,” its brand new series devoted to the online social networking phenomenon. “Social Brew” is a concoction of news, reviews and how-to’s for all social networks, including the biggies: MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Episodes of the hit new show will launch Mondays at 3:00 p.m. EST at http://www.revision3.com/socialbrew.
“Social networking is part of our daily internet lives, but it’s impossible to keep up with all the new developments”, said Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3. “Whether you need advice on how to navigate tricky interpersonal situations, or you just want to know who’s got the hottest new Facebook app or Twitter utility, Social Brew keeps you up to date. Plus our hilarious host Irene McGee adds a special, leavening ingredient.”
“Social Brew” acts as a discussion forum for all things social networking, and features the weekly segment “NETiquette,” offering advice on how to navigate Web 2.0 sites with poise and dignity intact.

About Social Brew host Irene McGee:
Media activist and pundit Irene McGee continues to bring Web fans her unique perspective and pop culture hilarity—this time as host of Revision3’s Social Brew, debuting at revision3.com/socialbrew in mid-April 2008.

Irene is perhaps best known for her award-winning podcast No One’s Listening, created in 2005, that addressed a range of subjects spanning popular culture and the forces that shape it. Within the first month of the show’s inception it was featured on BoingBoing, The San Francisco Chronicle, and iTunes. The show garnered various awards including a “Pubby Award” for Best Bay Area Podcast, and featured over 100 guests, such as academic Noam Chomsky, creator of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales, rocker Jello Biafra, and author Amy Tan. Show topics ranged from “The Commodification of Punk Rock” and “Bling It On: Race and Media” to “Iraq the Spin Cycle.”

No One’s Listening led to a talk radio show in the San Francisco Bay Area. One critique compared McGee’s style as “Ira Glass meets Jon Stewart.”

McGee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Georgetown University and a Masters of Arts in Broadcast Electronic Communications from San Francisco State University. She is excited to join the team at Revision3.

About Revision3
Revision3 is the first media company that gets it, born from the Internet, on-demand generation. Unlike aggregators, mash-ups, and user-generated video sites, Revision3 is an actual TV network for the Web, creating and producing its own original, broadcast-quality shows.

April 25th, 2008 at 12:55 by Michele Husak in Press Releases

— on April 30 Revision3 brings hilarity and insight to San Francisco for live tapings of diggnation and internet superstar—

San Francisco, CA (April 23, 2008)Revision3, the leader in exclusive Internet television, will team with GameVee for a live taping of the popular shows “Internet Superstar” and “Diggnation” on April 30 at Mighty in San Francisco. Doors open to the public at 6:00pm PST with free admission. The Diggnation episode will be viewable on May 2 at revision3.com, while Internet Superstar will debut at noon on Wednesday May7th. Stay tuned for more details, or visit www.revision3.com

“Revision3 and GameVee are the ultimate tech-savvy odd couple,” said Jason Bradicich, GameVee Founder. “Both are industry powerhouses committed to showing their fans a good time. We’ll see who steals whose thunder on April 30.”

GameVee.com is the largest social game-play video sharing website on the net. Leading the industry in web 2.0 features, such as Highlight (patent pending), GameVee lets users share, promote, communicate, and network around game-play videos.
“Revision3 knows how to party,” said Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3. “Irreverent ‘everymen’, Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht and others from the Revision3 family are teaming up with GameVee to throw what is guaranteed to be the most outrageous live event ever. Whether you’re in San Francisco or on your couch in Cleveland, episodes from the event will be true must see TV.”
First launched in 2005 and based on the top news stories from digg.com, “Diggnation” has more than 140 episodes available online and garners over 200,000 viewers per episode. The show consistently ranks among the top Internet videos available from the Apple iTunes Store.

“Internet Superstar” is “the greatest show the Internet has ever seen,” according to show host Martin Sargent. Relying on its hosts’ grit and wit, episodes are shot in a dilapidated shed in Martin’s mom’s backyard. Martin, along with co-host Gator, invite viewers into the shed as they interview the online world’s most popular, compelling and outrageous characters. During the show, guests and hosts swap stories about what life is like at the top of the online heap and dissect the ultimate Web question: what does it mean to be an Internet superstar?

About Diggnation’s Co-Hosts:
Alex Albrecht has participated in the entertainment industry for six years. He founded and directed the popular, Los Angeles-based improv comedy troupe, The Misfit Toys. The group was featured in Stuff Magazine and on MTV. Alex subsequently appeared in a number of national television commercials for companies such as Volkswagen, Dominos and Dell. After a chance meeting with a TechTV producer at a wedding, Alex landed the co-hosting role on TechTV’s The Screen Savers. It was at TechTV that he met Kevin Rose, and one of the most successful Internet television partnerships was born.

Kevin Rose is the founder and chief architect of Digg. He oversees all aspects of the management and development of the Web site. Kevin started Digg in September 2004 as a personal project. His initial idea was to conduct a social experiment in how masses of users could control and promote news and other content on the Web, without external editorial control. After a very short time, he realized the power of his idea, as Digg was becoming a resource for breaking news stories and developed a strong community following. Kevin is also a co-founder of Revision3, where, as a member of the board, he provides strategic direction to the company.

About Internet Superstar’s Co-Hosts:
Martin Sargent has been delighting audiences for decades. He now hosts Web Drifter on Revision3, as well as Internet Superstar, a show he shoots with absolutely no funding or support. Sargent got his start in media as a plucky young editor at PC/Computing magazine, and it is generally accepted in publishing circles that the periodical shuttered its operations as a direct result of Sargent’s exodus to pursue television projects. At ZDTV, TechTV and G4TV he hosted shows including The Screen Savers and Unscrewed with Martin Sargent. Since then he has done several pilots for such television powerhouses as Comedy Central and USA Network, and hosted shows on the Internet as well as mobile phones.

Gator is a hard-drinking drifter who was raised by an ex-con Seminole Indian named Starving Crow and now lives out of his truck in an abandoned lot in South San Francisco. He knows very little about the internet and less about technology. His main job is to make sure his “Internet Superstar” pal Martin Sargent doesn’t act like too much of a hotshot or get beat up by a guest. He also holds state carp records in Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida and can field dress a buck with a broken beer bottle in under eight minutes. He has no knowledge of his real last name.

BLINX PARTNERS WITH REVISION3 TO BRING PREMIUM TECH AND WEB CULTURE PROGRAMMING TO USERS

April 16th, 2008 at 04:55 by Michele Husak in Press Releases

Watch episodes of Diggnation, Tekzilla and more at www.blinkx.com

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. – April 16, 2008 – blinkx, the world’s largest video search engine, today announced a partnership with Revision3 (www.revision3.com), an online television network that creates and produces its own original, broadcast-quality shows. Revision3’s smart, on-demand programming can now be easily accessed at www.blinkx.com. Under the terms of the agreement, blinkx will leverage its unique AdHoc platform to place contextually relevant advertising against Revision3’s content and share resulting advertising revenue.

Revision3, the “TV network for the Internet generation,” was created in 2005 by tech gurus Kevin Rose, Jay Adelson and David Prager for those who take little interest in traditional television. Priding itself on providing viewers with content that entertains, educates and expands life experiences, Revision3 delivers professionally-produced, cutting-edge programs that span a number of genres, including tech tips and product reviews on “Tekzilla” and commentary on comic books and graphic novels on “iFanboy.”

“The Internet has emerged as a fantastic platform for alternative television programming in the recent years,” said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO, blinkx. “Those unsatisfied with current mainstream offerings can now seek their niche online, something Revision3 understands perfectly and aims to satisfy. We’re thrilled to bring Revision3’s quality programming to blinkx.”

“Our mission has always been to provide audiences with the programming they want to watch, whenever and wherever they want to watch it,” said Jim Louderback, CEO, Revision3. “Our partnership with blinkx not only extends our reach, but their advanced search technology furthers our commitment to making our content on-demand and easily accessible.”

As the pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the smartest way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 220 partners and 18 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech-recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

About blinkx
blinkx plc (LSE AIM: BLNX) is the world’s most comprehensive video search engine. Today, blinkx has indexed more than 18 million hours of audio, video, viral and TV content, and made it fully searchable and available on demand. blinkx’s founders set out to solve a significant challenge – as TV and user-generated content on the Web explode, keyword-based search technologies only scratch the surface. blinkx’s patented search technologies listen to – and even see – the Web, helping users enjoy a breadth and accuracy of search results not available elsewhere. In addition, blinkx powers the video search for many of the world’s most frequented sites. blinkx is based in San Francisco and London. More information is available at www.blinkx.com
