Ringing in the New Year on

December 31st, 2008 at 12:02 by Michele Husak in Uncategorized

Some of you have already noticed some small, subtle changes on recently, specifically in our Flash video player. We’ve been working behind the scenes to start the process of upgrading our flash player, as well the entire website for and we’re starting to roll things out for you to enjoy.

Today we’re excited to roll out a major upgrade to our Flash player’s user interface. I’ve embedded a video below so you can see it in action, but allow me to highlight some of the changes:

  • Player controls now disappear when the mouse is not over the flash player (we had rolled out an early version of this a few weeks ago too)
  • Larger Play/Pause button to the bottom left
  • A larger, easier to navigate timeline, with time codes present when rolling over the the timeline with your mouse and a clear marker of where you are in the video
  • To the lower right, the video quality button is larger and integrated within the Flash player

These are small, but important changes that we hope you enjoy. As we move into 2009, we’ll be making periodic updates to the Flash player, introducing newer and more interactive functionality. We’d love to hear what think and what kind of functionality you’d like to see in the Flash player, so please leave your comments below and let us know!

2009 is gearing up to be a big year for, so be sure to keep us bookmarked and keep coming back to see what’s new and what’s changed.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support for what’s been an amazing 2008 and wish you and yours a very Happy New Year!

EPIC FU Lives!

December 30th, 2008 at 04:07 by David Prager in Uncategorized

According to, Epic is something heroic; majestic; impressively great. That is precisely the reason that Revision3 has been honored to include EPIC FU in its family. More than just Epic, the show’s real definition has been and continues to be about stoking the flames of geek passion — films, bands, technology, video games, going green, and all the rest of the things that stand for the cool culture of this generation.

We are extremely saddened that today’s episode of EPIC FU will be the last one distributed by Revision3. The good news, however, is that EPIC FU is absolutely NOT going away. The show will continue its goal and mission, and will continue to enjoy the two-way street that is the ongoing conversation with all of EPIC FU’s viewers and participants.

New episodes of EPIC FU will be available at, so be sure to stay tuned in 2009 for more EPIC FU.

You Asked For It! PixelPerfect Returns!

December 29th, 2008 at 10:48 by Michele Husak in Uncategorized

Today we’re very excited to bring you a brand new episode of PixelPerfect!

“What’s this?” you may ask, “I thought that show was canceled?” It was. Back in October, we stopped producing PixelPerfect (one of our longest running and personal favorite shows), as part of a broader revamp of our lineup.

We knew that PixelPerfect had a lot of fans, but we were blown away by the show’s strong, devoted and loyal audience. You spoke, through a flood of e-mails, tweets, IMs and every other imaginable form of communication short of carrier pigeon.

We listened. So today marks the return of PixelPerfect. We’ve got some great episodes coming up, as master artist and teacher Bert Monroy returns with a wide range of insightful Photoshop and Illustrator tips, along with a sneak peek at the upcoming Adobe CS4 suite.

If you love PixelPerfect and want us to continue to produce new episodes, there are just three simple things you need to do:
1. Watch the show, every week, every episode. Subscribe to it via iTunes or your favorite RSS reader.

2. Support all of our Pixel Perfect sponsors, including GoDaddy, Netflix and nVidia, using our PixelPerfect codes where appropriate.

3. Tell your friends, co-workers, associates…basically everyone you know, about the show. If the audience of PixelPerfect grows to a higher level, then that will ensure that we regularly keep bringing you new episodes.

So what are you waiting for? Go watch the newest episode and enjoy the return of PixelPerfect!

Wonderful Piano Rendition of Tekzilla Theme

December 15th, 2008 at 03:33 by Jim Louderback in Uncategorized

The team at Tekzilla changed the outro music a few weeks ago to something more reminiscent of a 90s sitcom. It’s catchy, fun, and apparently caught the ear of at least one fan. If you like Tekzilla, you have to listen to this – it’s a wonderful piano rendition of the Tekzilla outro music. Well done!

Revision3 Brings You ROFLThing-NYC!

December 10th, 2008 at 09:37 by Rob Saurini in Uncategorized

Revision3 is coming to NYC this January, partnering with the crew at ROFLThing to create another weird full day and night of the entire freaking Internet in one room—ROFLThing-NYC! Back in April, ROFLCon 2008 was the first conference that discussed what makes memes work, why they work, and where it’s all going (and then threw a rocking party with Internet celebs themselves).

For the 2009 event, we’ve been working closely with the ROFLThing crew to finagle a venue bodacious enough to house all the action on January 24th (that’s Santos Party House NYC), and we’re officially on board with what’s shaping up to be the hottest Internet culture event. Check out ROFLThing for details. More to come!

January 24th in New York City. Get ready.

Revision3 Store Launches!

December 9th, 2008 at 04:10 by Jim Louderback in Uncategorized

“The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step”
– Lao Tzu

Last night we launched something many of you have been clamoring for: Our new Revision3 store. I’m very proud of the hard work our team put into the store; launching it was not unlike building a house, with lots of moving parts, contractors and decorators to manage.

But unlike a house, which might get a new addition every ten years, what you see today is just the beginning, just our first step. We have a lot of great plans going forward, and you’ll see expansions and updates over the coming days and weeks.

Although we’re happy with the first round of products in our store, including the great Scam School and Tekzilla shirts, and the new female-sized shirts, some of you have wondered why we didn’t have more products available. They are on the way! This is just the first lineup of products – we expect a new crop of products up on the site within a few weeks, including hoodies – and maybe even Tekzilla hot sauce!

As for issues shipping outside of the US, we’re working to address that as quickly as possible.

Some of our fans wondered why we launched at all, given that we’ve discussed a broader range of products. I thought it was important that we launch something this week, so that we had an initial release available for the holiday season – rather than waiting until next year. And remember, as Lao Tzu says, this is just a first step. Our store will include a constantly evolving set of products and features that should please everyone.

Want to help with the next step? We’re going to be adding new pictures of our products “in action”, as modeled by our staff. But we’d rather run pictures of you decked out in our Revision3 gear. So here’s my challenge to all of you: snap a picture of yourself in one of our new shirts, hats, or using some of the gear to come. Post the picture in the forum, or link to it posted on Flickr or elsewhere. For a limited time, if we end up using your picture in our store, we’ll give you anything you want at the store for free!

DealsFTW Live on Revision3 Tonight

December 8th, 2008 at 05:22 by Michele Husak in Uncategorized

We’ve been working on a number of interesting new projects here at Revision3 over the past few months, and one of them debuts tonight, in beta form. It’s our new Deals FTW show, and it’s a bit of a departure for us.

I’ve been a big fan of Woot! for years, and I’ve been captivated by home shopping shows as well. I’ve always thought there would be a way to mash-up internet video, shopping, product demonstrations and a bit of an edge. Tonight, here at Revision3, we’re going to take a first stab at a live product / shopping experience, using our live player, Meebo-based chat, and our test partners at HP.

When you tune in, you’ll see me, joined by a number of Revision3 employees and friends, showing off four very different HP notebooks. From the page, in turn, you can link over to HPs site to explore, customize and price out, and buy these notebooks.

But that’s not all. You’ll also see the debut of our new Revision3 store, and a sneak peek at some of the awesome new shirts, hats and other branded gear we’ve been developing.

Why do a shopping show? Because we think there’s an opportunity to introduce you to some cool new products, and make money at the same time. To be clear, we teamed up with HP for two reasons – one because they make some pretty nice products. But primarily because it’s a way to bring more money into Revision3, and to help pay for the shows that we produce, and give away for free.

So if you like what we do at Revision3, come support us. Check out, watch what we’re doing, and comment in the chat room. And let us know what you think. We’re going to work to incorporate your comments in the next version of DealsFTW. Thanks for watching, and don’t remember to click on our Check Prices link and buy stuff from our stores!
