Revision3 Hits E3 & NYC

May 27th, 2009 at 11:09 by Michele Husak in Live Events, Shows

The first week of June is gearing up to be a big one for Revision3 as we span from coast to coast with exciting events and coverage for you. Whether you’re in Los Angeles for the celebration of video games at E3 or in New York City for Internet Week, Revision3 has some cool events and appearances lined up for you. If you’re not in LA or NYC, you can still take part in the fun from home with our coverage and episode releases. Here’s the rundown of what’s going on in June:

E3 – This is the mega huge video game expo in LA where all the latest and greatest from the video game world is presented and demoed. Of course Revision3 is there in spades with CO-OP and the Totally Rad Show on hand to cover the event. With both shows covering the event, we could not contain the amount of awesomeness going on, so we created a one stop spot for everything E3 at Revision3, or “RevisionE3″ as we like to call it. Just head over to revision3.com/e3 and you can tune in to the LIVE stream featuring the TRS guys AND the CO-OP team live from the show floor – June 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 7 PM Eastern / 4 PM Pacific. In addition to the live shows, CO-OP will be releasing DAILY specials from E3, and the Totally Rad Show will be releasing their E3 reactions on June 9th.

Diggnation in NYC - Last year’s live Diggnation in New York City was a sold out event and was insane. This year, we return to New York City with our friends from Digg to host Diggnation LIVE and host a Digg Meetup at a bigger venue: Webster Hall in Manhattan. If you live in the New York Metro area, you’re not going want to miss this as it’s looking to be one of the biggest live Diggnations ever!

Diggnation at 30 Rock Contest
While we’re in New York we will be taping another episode of Diggnation at the home of NBC, 30 Rockefeller Center and we thought it would be cool if some of you came along! 5 lucky Diggnation fans will win the opportunity to see Diggnation taped at 30 Rock. There isn’t much time to register, as the deadline is June 1st at 5 PM Eastern. So head over to revision3.com/nycontest right now and enter!

Digital Content Newfront 2009
On June 3rd, we’re partnering with the fine folks at Digitas to live stream their very cool event, the Digital Content Newfront 2009. Hosted by Jake and Amir from Collegehumor, with appearances by Al Gore, Tom Green and many others from the world of new media, the day’s events are a topical discussion about the world of new media and advertising is changing. If you’re interested in new media and the business of new media, then don’t miss the events, which Revision3 is bringing directly to your screen. Just head over to revision3.com/newfront for all the info!

I told you the first week of June was going to be huge. You don’t wont to miss a single live stream, episode or live event! We hope you’re as excited about these events as we are and look forward to seeing all of you there!

Thanks.

Welcome to the New Revision3.com

May 20th, 2009 at 01:50 by Michele Husak in Announcements, Website

We are very pleased and excited to welcome you to the new brand new Revision3.com! Revision3.com has gone through several iterations since we first began back in 2005, and this website represents the 4th version of Revision3.com and I’m pretty sure you’ll agree that it’s the best one yet.

So just what exactly has changed? Practically everything! Here’s a brief summary of the changes to the site with Revision3.com version 4.0 that you can expect:

Updated Design – It’s a brand new site with a brand new interface. Every section and page of the site has been redesigned and improved from the previous version. In addition, we’ve made navigation easier on the site so you can get around and find what you want. We’ve even given some love to the forums, so it’s fresh, new and ready to be used.

BIGGER & Better Video – We’ve increased the size of our video player, so now when you’re watching your favorite show, it truly is an entertaining experience. We’ve also added some cool features like the ability to pop out the player to another window or to put it in theater mode and make the video really pop.

User Preferences – We want to make the Revision3 website the site YOU want it to be, each and every one of you. To do that, we’ve begun expanding the User Preferences section to allow for customization of what you see and how you use revision3.com. Admittedly there isn’t much there right now but from what is there, you should get the general idea of what will be coming. Expect to see this area expanded on the most over the upcoming weeks, so make sure you register and log in to the site when you visit.

Enhanced Shows and Host Pages – We’ve redesigned all the show pages so that it’s easier to browse and find your favorite episodes. We’ve also worked to make sure our search functionality gives you the results your looking for. It’s also easier to find information about your favorite show host, such as the link to the their blog, Facebook Profile or whatever other social network they may be on.

Twitter!Twitter’s everywhere these days, so why not Revision3? You may notice that we’ve worked with our friends at SquareSpace to create a Revision3 Twitter directory so it’s easy to find everyone from Revision3 on Twitter. We’ve also integrated the Twitter feeds of our hosts on their pages so you can see what they’re up to, minute by minute.

Under The Hood – For those of you interested in how things work, a lot of the changes and improvements come from behind the scenes. Previously, as many of you know, we were using WordPress for our content management needs. As we’ve grown, we’ve outgrown WordPress as a solution. Don’t get us wrong, we still love WordPress and still use it for our blog, but for running the site, we learned a lot from using it and have evolved beyond its capabilities. Now we’re running an internally produced content management system that was built on a PHP based MVC framework. And what’s even better is that we’re primed to grow from here, making it easy to add new features and functionality later on (hint hint).

As I said, we’re immensely excited for the site. Personally I love the new look and I love how bright the future looks for Revision3.com. We’re going to be building from here and creating some cool features for all Revision3 fans to come and enjoy. We hope you like the new site as much as we do, and please let us know what you think either by e-mailing us or on the forums.

I’d like to take a moment and put the spotlight on the awesome team here at Revision3 that labored for months to bring you the new Revision3.com – Stephanie Chu, Ryan LaBarre, Jeff Rizzo, Chuck Siu, Brendan White and a few others who are unfortunately no longer with us here at Revision3. All your hard work and dedication has absolutely paid off and I hope all the loyal Revision3 fans join me in applauding you.

thanks.

REVISION3 AND ROOFTOPCOMEDY LAUNCH NEW COMEDY SHOW “ROFL – ROLL ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING”

May 11th, 2009 at 04:13 by Michele Husak in Press Releases

INTERNET TV NETWORK RELEASES BEST OF STAND-UP COMEDY PRODUCED BY LEADING PROVIDER OF ORIGINAL COMEDY CONTENT

San Francisco, CA – May 11, 2009 – Revision3, the TV network for the Internet generation, and RooftopComedy, the leading new media provider of performance-based comedy content, today launch “ROFL – Roll On The Floor Laughing,” a weekly series featuring the most timely, relevant and hilarious live stand-up comedy of the week.

The second new series to debut in Revision3’s exciting summer programming lineup, ROFL is a new kind of comedy show. Each 12-15 minute episode showcases the performance of 5-7 comics who have been recorded live at one of RooftopComedy’s 20 partner clubs around the world. As RooftopComedy records every performance at each venue 365 nights a year, there is an endless amount of comedy content to create ROFL, a weekly round-up of the most hilarious acts specifically targeted to the young, male audience. ROFL is formatted without a traditional show host; instead, each episode presents a highlights clip via the ROFL dashboard—a hybrid of iPhone-meets-Instant-Messaging design—with a constantly updated program guide and metadata for each clip.

ROFL will air every Monday at http://www.revision3.com/rofl.

“ROFL is created by and for young guys, Revision3’s target demographic,” said Ryan Vance, Vice President, Programming and Production, Revision3. “This audience is tech savvy, Web-obsessed and underserved by mainstream comedy channels. We’re thrilled to partner with RooftopComedy to meet the needs of fans worldwide—providing them with a constant stream of the most hilarious brand new comedy they can find, available anywhere, anytime on Revision3.com.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Revision3 on ROFL, as their extensive audience reach provides a great showcase for the cutting-edge comedians we film every night,” said Will C. Rogers, founder and CEO of RooftopComedy. “Programming like ROFL allows us to highlight some of the top comedy performances from our network of comedy clubs around the world and deliver them directly to the fans who will appreciate them most. Together, RooftopComedy and Revision3 are giving people access to the very best in humor and hilarity.”

— FIRST IN SERIES OF NEW SHOWS TO ROLL OUT THIS SUMMER —

San Francisco, CA – May 4, 2009 – Summer programming at Revision3 is getting even more raucous, as JV’s World, featuring popular radio show superstar JV, joins the network’s hit lineup. Now putting its signature spin on opinion mixed with entertainment, Revision3 will air JV’s World today at www.revision3.com/jvsworld.

“The Revision3 team continues to focus on producing great shows fronted by compelling hosts and on-air talent that our audience relies on for updates, news and insight into all kinds of subjects. As the Revision3 audience gets to know JV—and his compelling and hilarious world view—in JV’s World, viewers are going to get more than excited to find out what he’ll say next!” said Ryan Vance, Vice President, Programming and Production, Revision3. “And this isn’t the last new show announcement from Revision3; we have much more to come soon, so stay tuned.”

JV’s World showcases one-of-a-kind personality and radio show host JV, who shares his opinion about everything and anything—expressed in the format of a true new media show. In each episode, JV weighs in on a different topic and takes it to the streets. From MTV to Vegas animal acts, no one is safe from the rants of JV.

JV currently hosts JV Mornings, a radio show aired on WILD 94.9 in San Francisco, and is the former host and creator of The Dog House, one of the most successful morning radio shows in the nation and top rated morning show for ten years in the San Francisco market. He has also led hit programs at radio stations in New York and Los Angeles.

“I wanted a home for my content other than the traditional radio outlet, especially as I started producing more and more shows and videos online,” said JV. “Revision3 is the perfect spot for my next venture; their shows are hugely popular and reach my target audience. I’m looking forward to bringing a different kind of intensity and passion to the network—and giving all Revision3 fans a new show to get excited about!”

JV’s World will air every other Monday at www.revision3.com/jvsworld. The show is the first of several new releases coming from Revision3 this summer.
