David Prager to Leave Revision3

June 21st, 2012 at 10:18 by David Prager in Announcements

After 7 years, I’ve decided that it’s time for a change. There are always times of change and shift in our lives at different rates of frequency, be they personal or professional. For me, the decision to leave Revision3 is both, as the experience has encompassed and consumed my life to a large extent on both levels. Because of that personal connection and my love of the work that I’ve been so privileged to do for so long, I will still continue to do work for Revision3, just not on a full time basis.

The promise and draw of new opportunities and challenges is extremely compelling and with Revision3′s positive and successful sale to Discovery Communications, the time is ripe for a change.

I very much look forward to staying in touch with all of the friends, fans, colleagues, and competitors that have led me to where I am proud to be today. Pasted below is the email I sent yesterday to the staff of Revision3.

David Prager

Moving On, Sort of…

I’ve spent the past 7 years doing the most fulfilling work of my life. I loved building a culture and passion around an idea and bringing on people smarter than I am that can do their jobs better than I could. I loved seeing their thoughts develop ideas to places I never thought of. When I helped found Revision3, I admit I didn’t realize just how impactful and how notable a role we would play in the still rapidly evolving world of digital entertainment, television, distribution, and its business models.

It is because of all of you that the vision gained strength. It is because of all of you that we were able to trail-blaze, pioneer, and turn what was a volatile and unknown marketplace into a profitable business. It is because of all of you that we caught the eyes of some of the biggest media companies on the planet. Together, we shook traditional media giants to the the core so much that perhaps the smartest and most respectable one of them all, Discovery, realized that the combined power of our collective knowledge and ability could be the perfect media (new media) company for the coming generations.

And so with that milestone and with a heavy heart, I have decided to wrap up my tenure as a full time employee of Revision3. I’m excited about starting the next chapter of my career and will be sharing a couple of the projects I will be working on with you all soon in the weeks ahead. My decision to leave Revision3 is wholly my own, but one that I couldn’t make cleanly. Although I won’t be here day-to-day, I will continue to serve Revision3 as an advisor and will continue to work on a couple of different productions – one a revival of a modified version of Toasted Donut with Glenn McElhose and one a yet to be launched show whose pilot involved a small (errr… rather large) scorpion.

Finally, I want to reiterate just how proud I am about how hard the Revision3 team has worked to take us to where we are today. There are lots of exciting things going on with Revision3 post acquisition and I’m thrilled for the promise and opportunity for the company, the industry, and everyone involved. I have an incredible amount of confidence in our team as well as the synergy between Revision3 and Discovery to lead to un-paralleled success.

All my respect and appreciation,

Hey Buddy. I enjoyed being a viewer all along. Not so surprised that things are changing. Been there. Luckily, I have always been freelance and could move on easily. Luckily, I have never taken on any responsibility. Well, until now.

Good luck in the future Prager!!

(Any chance now of a non-Revision 3 Diggnation reunion show??) :)

Couldn’t have made it without you, pal.  Your spirit and enthusiasm made this company real.

Cool. I’ll always be left wondering how much the acquisition actually impacted this decision. I’d never expect you to admit that, obviously, so I guess we can all have our opinions on this decision. Best of luck man!

  • Jonathan Beckett

Good luck David. Although I don’t get much chance to watch the various shows any more, I remember the days of Diggnation’s rise, and your occasional appearances in the periphery of the show.

  • Jared Schnelle

Best of luck to you in the future, Prager. I have a lot of good memories that wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for your work at Revision3 and events like the Diggnation live shows.

  • Andrew Goldenberg

So long Prager! It was an honor and a privilege to have met you, and to be able to watch the content you created day in and day out! Best of luck with your future buddy! Break a leg!

Hi Prager, sorry your leaving Revision 3 and ecstatic that you will be re-charging one of my favorite shows Toasted Donut with Glenn . I would love to see you Glenn, Kevin and Alex doing a show together again , I miss the Diggnation days. That show was the best show. Good luck.
